Gibb Kid Fun

Easton's new favorite question is "why?", and I (Riley) usually have a pretty good answer.
However, on Sunday morning I was putting something away in our coat closet and Easton saw the sleeping bag and asked if we could get it out to play with. I said "no".
And he followed up with the standard "why?"... well I was stumped.
The only thought that I could come up with was that I was too lazy to roll it back up when he was finished, and I didn't think that would fly with a 2 1/2 year old. Needless to say, Easton and Brady got to play in the sleeping bag. (and we all had fun)

Brady Pulling Faces

Easton is convinced that part of every bath is giving himself and his brother a mowhawk.

Mason Festival Parade

We went to a parade in our little city on Saturday. While we were there Easton got to check out a race car! You can be sure he was excited about that.

Easton and Brady after the parade. Easton had already started eating his bucket of candy that he collected during the parade!

Sunflower

We have the BEST library program here. The ladies who run it are so nice and always have great activities planned. Earlier in the spring they had a gardening theme and helped each child plant a sunflower from seeds. Ours bloomed this week. It has been so much fun watching it grow. It seems like it will grow a few inches over the night!

I am, however, a little ticked that it decided to bloom with the flower part facing our neighbors backyard and not my kitchen window like I had planned!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Riley turned 31 this month. Easton insisted that he had to have a baseball cake. I am neither artistic, creative, or patient so I was happy with how my cake turned out. It is so much fun to have kids around to celebrate birthdays and holidays with. They make everything more exciting!

Lady Distance Classic 10K

This morning my mom and I did a 10k race together. I did the run and she did the walk. A 10k is 6.2 miles and I completed it in 1 hour and 59 seconds. My pace was 9:50 a mile and I placed 31 of 69 women in the 25 - 29 age division. My mom walked it in 1 hour and 27 minutes.
Me and my boys after the race. They have gotten really good at cheering me on at all of these races I have been doing.

This picture has a story... After I finished the race, we all went to wait for mom to finish. We stood at the road about a tenth of the mile before the finish line so we could cheer her on as she rounded the corner to finish. We finally saw her coming and started cheering for her. Well she walked over and started giving Easton a high five. This was normal until she just stood there and I realized that she thought she had finished the race! I actually had to yell and push her to get her to realize that she had another tenth of a mile to go. This picture is of mom realizing that she hadn't crossed the finish line and taking off on a sprint to get there! It was really funny.

Grandma and her two grandson's. Mom is also wearing the jacket she won this morning for getting 3rd in her age division! (As a side note: Riley got both boys ready this morning and drove over to the race to meet us. He knows how much my mom likes 'party' shirts so he decided to dress them both in their best 'party' shirts! She totally got what he was trying to do!)

Pool Fun!!

July has been cool and rainy, but we finally had a warm day and made it back to the pool.  With Brady crawling and Easton getting more and more comfortable in the water, we are really busy watching them.  Both boys love to play in the water!

Jessica and Melanie Conquer Kings Island

Melanie and I went to King's Island together this week.  We had so much fun.  We were there for 10 hours and rode nearly every large ride there!  Melanie is a good roller coaster buddy because she stays calm and just laughs at my screaming!
Melanie and I getting ready to head into the park.

This is us at the entrance to Kings Island's brand new roller coaster, 'The Diamondback.'  This was by far the scariest, most fun, and best roller coaster I have ever been on.  I screamed the entire way through it!

Easton's Hairstyles

Easton's Nana, Papa, and Aunt Melanie came to visit this week.  Since Melanie is now a professional hairstylist she was able to get Easton the salon quality hair gel.  She fixed his hair all this week.  She gave him a mohawk, spikes, and front spikes.  He looked really cute and I am hoping that I can recreate his hair as good as she did it!

Random Shots from the Past Week

When Grandma came to visit she took Easton on her daily Diet Coke run.  He really enjoyed riding in her big truck...

...but I didn't enjoy his daily sugar rush from the snacks she bought him.  This picture is Easton after he was given chocolate milk and a bag of M&M's!

The 4-H Fair

Last week I took Easton and Brady on our annual trip to the 4-H fair.  The boys enjoyed looking at the animals and eating an elephant ear!
