Tornado!

About a month ago we had some tornados come through the area.  A tornado actually hit Easton's school (Mintonye) and the middle school right next door.  The damage was so severe that Easton had a week off of school and is now going to a temporary location for school.  Easton is expected to spend the rest of the school year at this new location, and will hopefully be back into Mintonye by the start of school next fall.

This is the middle school (Southwestern).  It had even more damage than Mintonye.

Field Trips with Village Nursery School

We have had a few field trips at pre-school this year.  Brady's class went to the Purdue Agronomy Park.  While they were there they checked out the farm equipment, fields, and had a wagon ride.

Jaylee's class took a ride on the City Bus.  They got to stop by the bus depot and go through the bus wash.

First Snowfall of the Year

It's a good thing there is 4-wheeler sledding to be done.  Maybe it makes up for having to hike through drifts to get on the school bus!

This is my parent's new horse, Trickle.  He looked so pretty standing out in the fresh snow.

Canning - 2013

I had a successful year of canning!  I ended up canning strawberry jam, applesauce, pickles, apple pie filling, and lots of tomatoes.

Riley's mom bought an applesauce making tool, so we were able to make lots of applesauce in half the time.

The Chickens are Laying Eggs

The chickens have started laying eggs.  I was so excited to see those first eggs!

Fresh eggs really do look and taste better than store bought eggs.

Riley was proud that the chickens were using the nesting boxes that he added into the coop.

My dad made up a new game to play with his grandkids.  It is called "Chicken Chicken." You have to be the last person to have your finger in the chicken coop without pulling it out or getting pecked.  It was pretty funny!

Nebraska Game

Purdue played Nebraska in a football game at home this year.  Since my Dad is a big Nebraska fan he took everyone to the game.  It was a fun family activity.

 My dad is a cutie!

 My Sister and I

The game must have worn my dad out.  While we were sitting outside having dinner we looked over and saw that my dad had fallen completely to sleep in the grass.

Since my sister was home for the game we took the opportunity to have a girl's camping trip.  It was a fun weekend!

Baby Gibb #4

These are just a few pictures of Baby Gibb #4.  We did not find out the gender of the baby and are so excited for the surprise!

Grandma Waterbury Visits

My Grandma came for a two week visit.  It was nice to have her come and have my kids get to know her.  I am always impressed with how well she gets around at her age.  I can't imagine there are many 88 year old women who are comfortable climbing up on a step stool and cleaning windows in forty degree temperatures!

 Grandma Waterbury

Easton and his cousins with "Grandma Great."

My grandma really does not like airports so she rode a bus for 10 hours to get out here.  This is a picture of her waiting in line to get her bus to ticket to go back home.  She's pretty brave!

Easton Loses a Tooth

Easton lost his first tooth this past week.  He was excited about it and liked having the tooth fairy come.    This was the first of many loose teeth we will be having at our house over the next several years.

Back to School

Easton is back at Mintonye and in the 1st grade.  He has really adjusted well, and loves this school year.

 Brady is in Pre-K...

...and Jaylee is in Preschool 2.

Both Brady and Jaylee are still at Village Nursery School.

Random Shots From the Past Few Weeks

He is as nice as he is cute!

This is what happens when you have lots of little kids in your house and only one bathroom.

Riley's parents have some peach trees and they had lots of peaches this year.  We froze a bunch of them, but I also made some pies.  Brady loved helping to make the pie, and has been asking to make more.  I am also excited because I was finally successful with making my Grandma Waterbury's pie crust.

So far this school year, Brady has found it hilarious to put sad faces on all of his crafts.  He is really funny, but I sometimes I just don't know what do with him.

Turkey Run State Park

We had a free Saturday, so we packed a lunch, and headed over to Turkey Run.  I loved having all of our family together and hiking.  We probably hiked for over two hours and the kids did great!
